women and their shoes

I just heard a male coworker refer to "women and their shoes!". Then he back-pedaled, probably because he knew I might have heard him and said "not all women of course, though many of them!".

I do not own many pairs of shoes.

Why do some people feel a need to randomly spout statements based on stereotypes?

  1. I just happen to find your blog. And thought i should comment. I work as a database developer and I'm a female. At my previous company there was one guy that would always make comments such as the one you heard. For everyone of his comments I would have something something even more clever to say about male stereotypes. What I found was , he was even worse then the girls in high school that would talk behind your back. Anytime I heard him say something out of the corner of his mouth. I would say, EXCUSE ME??!?! "Why don't you speak up and stop whispering gossip like a 14 yr old little girl." I guess im a little more on the aggressive side.

  2. I don't know any girl who does not love shoes. Honestly, to deny the existence of such a widespread phenomenon is like being an ostrich with its head in the ground.
